I was just wondering if it is just possible to implement a random moving mode, with the existing ones (free mode, spaceship mode...).
Imagine that : you start space engine, and you don't have any idea of where you can go, and so, you press the "magic" random mode button, and the engine brings you automaticaly to a star, visiting its planets and its moons.

I think it could be a good idea, a random planetarium when you are having a rest.

I like this idea too. Another variation of this would be to have the camera fly randomly though the galaxy, kind of a "screensaver" effect. To save resources, it could just fly through the same area repeatedly in different paths.

There was a script for Celestia that implemented that. The camera would just fly around through the region of the star catalog, within a thousand parsecs of Sol usually, and just went on different paths. It was really nice to watch, especially with some of the beta executables that implemented much better star rendering.

I signed up just to suggest screensaver aspect but random planets at the touch of a button would be cool too.

I think that is an absolutely wonderful idea!!! I am always attracted to the unknown and discovery factor. I also believe that the more unknown and discoverable things that are implemented in SE, Especially those of the rare and hard to find sort, the more interesting SE will be for sure and obviously truely leaves the possibilities endless!!!!!! It would especially be neat if the majority of which is not even mentioned by SE other than "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE", and simply left for the discoverers to find, discuss, post, even have discoveries named after lol...Similar to your post or atleast brought it to mind, is also to implement an easy to use and accessible time and navigation auto pilot system that allows one to quickly plot their journey from take off to landing or point a to b ( even a to b, c, d) and actually pre-set their speed at different points in the journey and actual length or time involved whether mins or years!! smile To be able to plot out the tajectory, accelerate(fast or slow)increasing until reaching the desired cruising speed and the slowing at the desired rate before entering orbit, decent and landing, whatever the desired destination!! Ofcourse for this to be its best you should be able to pre-set your journey so that you could automatically orbit any body automatically if desired!! I rembr that was what i always thought celestia ws missing!!

Nice Idea. I think it can already be done by writing a script file but I am not sure though. And in case you ask me to write a script file: I don't have a clue wink . Master Vlad and an experienced mod will probably know what I am talking about..
