Now that we are able to specify the color of land, life, and oceans on a planet's surface, I found it odd that albedo can be customized independently. For example, I was able to give a custom planet with a surface of ~50% oceans (of light blue color) and ~40% cloud cover an albedo of 0.001 and subsequently keep it "temperate" at an extraordinary distance from its star.
Would it be possible to have the engine calculate an albedo from the planet's colors and recommend it in the editing menu?

Well, if you really get down to it, albedo and color are independent of one another -- I could have a red object and a blue object with the same albedo, and I can have two red objects with different albedo. Albedo is simply a measure of what fraction of radiation is reflected by a surface. The albedo can also be calculated by integrating the reflectivity over the whole spectrum of colors (visible if considering geometric albedo, or all wavelengths if considering Bond albedo), but SE doesn't have this much detail involved.
