I suggest this option for future releases: on Solar System bodies and catalog exoplanets for which there is no surface/height data available (such as most satellites of planets Jupiter and outward) provide option for procedural (or 'constrained' procedural) heightmaps; accuracy notwithstanding, it would make for less boring terrain at landing sites.

I think this is a lot harder to do than it sounds like, which is why it hasn't been done yet. You would probably end up with bumpmaps that don't match the textures at all, which would look really bad.

I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

You could just go into the catalog and specify the diffmap as also being the bumpmap if you really want terrain on worlds like Mercury. But it would not look even remotely realistic.

Also, this really belongs in the "Feedback and Suggestions" section, not Development Status.
