Kosmos sounds okay, particularly given that the primary developer is Russian ;)

But "the" Space Engine game I vote should be called "Space Engine" or something along the lines of "Space Engine: The Game" or "Space Engine Online" (if it ends up being an MMO).

P.S.: I couldn't help the urge to come up with names, so here's a few in a spoiler just in case they're actually good:

Intel HD Graphics 4000 ;P

I was thinking the exact same thing! Since it's going to be using the SE engine I think it should be closely related to it in name.

Maybe something like:

Space Engine: Frontier
Space Engine: Big Sky
Space Explorer

I really like "Space Engine: Infinity" though. biggrin

All you need in life are space games and typhlosions.

I agree with people saying that Space Engine should be in the name. It's not very elegant (it's pretty generic, actually) but when people will Google the name "Space Engine", they'll find all the amazing videos showing how the game is actually infinite and limitless.

It's basically free marketing and it eliminates the "I have no idea what this game is and the only info about it comes from the developer" effect that causes a lot of people to avoid buying lesser-known games due to the horrible business practices that have been developed around this lack of knowledge. I know I may sound venal but in today's crowded indie gaming scenario, it is vital that you stand out from the crowd and can show, real, functioning material to potential costumers that does not come from your own company.

Regarding the name, I'd go with something that somewhat highlights the infinite nature of SE's universe (assuming that by the time the author has the resources and the team to make a full game, the universe won't be a finite cube anymore).

Space Engine: Limitless

or maybe the other way around:

Limitless: The Space Engine

Born too early to explore space... But just in time for Space Engine.

PC Specs:
GTX 770 (2GB VRAM) - i5 4570 - 8GB RAM

SpaceEngine on it's own works fine. No matter how you view the title it fits the scenario of the program.

Space Quantum? That's my best idea

The Terra Hunter of the Milky Way!

(By the way, I was born in 2001, NOT 1972 XD)

Frankly, I have no idea what that meant exactly. It came up somehow, as I have been playing around with Google Translate. But I think it looks quite good!

My idea would be Grand Unified Theory or GUT for short.

It would be both fitting and has a deeper meaning (as in it actually is a scientific theory).
It fits because the game combines all the great things you can imagine.

GUT Wikipedia

I'm also leaning more and more toward the option that the name just stays SpaceEngine, or at the very least that SpaceEngine is in the title, as people said. The name "SpaceEngine" has built up a reputation that would need to be rebuilt from scratch if there is a name change. Yes, it might sound generic, but so does, for example, Minecraft.

We might need to change the name of the normal exploratory game too; it is too close to space engineers and I don't want to end up seeing legal problems regarding the names of the two games.

SpaceEngine would win the case since it is older. This will also never happen.

Yes, Keen Software House are well aware of the existence of SpaceEngine and do not have a problem with it, and as Doc said, SpaceEngine is older so it would keep its name if there was a legal case. Anyway, Space Engineers advertised SpaceEngine on their Facebook and Twitter pages one time, so there's zero chance they don't like us.

My suggestion
P H A N E R O N
•Space Engine•

Phaneron
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The phaneron (Greek φανερός phaneros "visible, showable") is essentially the real world filtered by our sensory input (sight, hearing, touch, etc.).
Origin of the term

The term was coined by Charles Sanders Peirce: "By the phaneron I mean the collective total of all that is in any way or in any sense present to the mind, quite regardless of whether it corresponds to any real thing or not. If you ask present when, and to whose mind, I reply that I leave these questions unanswered, never having entertained a doubt that those features of the phaneron that I have found in my mind are present at all times and to all minds."
