That would be Windows 7. Wordpad/Notepad come standard with Windows, including Win7. It is almost impossible that you didn't have them.

Hm, have you tried step 4 in http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/4-1555-1 ? I don't know if asynchronous loading mode can cause crashes on startup, but the last line in the SE log is similar and changing it from that to interleaving will at least avoid problems related to asynchronous loading.

Also, get the latest NVIDIA video drivers to be on the safe side if it isn't up to date.

That's what I thought as well, strange that he doesn't have them. Non-standard installation maybe? Not sure if it's even possible to exclude them from an installation.

I have changed it now. Yet when it decides to work, as soon as I see a part of a galaxy in the horizon, it crashes down.

Did it crash the same way (for example it crashed at an earlier point) before you changed the settings? Just getting clarification on the crash behavior and whether it changed.

Maybe also post the SE log from this crash if the behavior is different from before.

Also, have you updated the graphics driver? I notice that yours has a GLSL version 1.50 and mine is 3.30, so yours is rather old.

It crashes in three different ways, always when I enter the Planetarium.

Crash pattern 1: It hangs itself. No loading even emerges.

Crash pattern 2: It loads and then crashes when the loading seemingly stops.

Crash pattern 3: It loads, the planetarium opens. I wait a minute, then try to go somewhere. It crashes.

Lucas, have you checked whether you have the latest update for the video driver and updated it if it isn't? The reason why I keep asking is because if your graphics driver version is out of date, things might not work properly, or at all.

Lucas, your graphics hardware is very low spec, barely good enough to run SE. And smjjames is right, you need to update your graphics drivers.

Strangely, for last month, Space Engine 0.97 worked almost flawlessly.

Lucas, try going into the main.cfg file in the config folder, and set the LoaderMode to 1 (it is set to 2 as default). Maybe that will help a little. I had problems with crashing and after setting the LoaderMode to 1, it doesn't crash anymore.

Did the same. No effect.

No. I don't know where/how to do it, and I don't accidentally want to turn my entire computer into the crazy house. I have downloaded free software before, and I'm aware of the risks.

If you can tell me whether you have 32 or 64 bit Windows (right-click on your Computer icon and click Properties to check) then I'll give you the download link to the proper drivers.
