SpaceEngineer, I cannot even begin to describe for how long I've been waiting for this!

Just curious, how'd you get around that 'no reference point' problem?

Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.

I was curious about this myself and asked, here is the answer I got

Quote SpaceEngineer
after I add night side lights and shaders for 0 lights (for black hole systems), it become possible to render ship outside the system

I reorganized the rendering sequence bit

all interstellar ships are added to a new renderlist, centered on camera

using universal coordinates (128-bit fixed point numbers)

wait wut o_o

I already downloaded 0.974 but I didn't try this because I'd assumed it was a feature never intended to be added. I'll have to go test it out now! xD

EDIT: Oh, I see. It's an "in development" feature that only SpaceEngineer has xP Well I look forward to it anyway.

Intel HD Graphics 4000 ;P

So... with universal coordinates for ships, can we travel trough multiple stellar systems now?

And how about catalog comets with parabola orbits... Are they rendered now as well?

Hi! smile

Some development suggestions:

Planets:
Show coordinate grid with Lat/Lon number on planets (on/off mode)
Show points of the compass on horizon (Stellarium like) (on/off mode)
Show atmospheric components in wiki (O2 , N2 , Ar, NH3 ....) Perhaps percentage: 20% O2 1% Ar ...etc

Stars:
Fix the weird shape giant stars (some looks like a inside of Pomegranate)
I think there is no such star-shaped. surprised

Apparently stars this big are shaped like that. The star itself maybe be many AU's inside the sphere you see which is the result of expansion.

I remember that there's an unoffical plugin to show the atmospheric components of planets(that plugin can also show you the history of the planets),it's like a kind of"detailed information generator"....

And the weird shape giant stars whom have star-shaped like that is not a mistake, but a realistic effect.....when the stars are too big(especially the old expanding stars),their core's heat, repulsion and volume have become so large and the gravity can no longer to maintain their spherical shape. wink

weird shape: Now I remember that I read about it. You're right. Star shape suggestion cancelled! biggrin
I hope the rest of my suggestions is realized. wink

Wouldn't ships in interstellar space be pitch black (apart from the light on the ship itself)?

Yes but you can always increase ambient lighting on models.

Practically pitch black, but Engineer once said he will implement interstellar ambient lighting, and especially it applies to black hole systems with no light sources.
