SpaceHopper,
I see in your log that you used some of my addons. Not all are necessarily compatible with SE 0.974.8 and SE 0.974 RC1.

The files 'JDV-Cluster.sc' and 'NeutronStarsMain_complex.sc' are apparently not properly installed. Probably not in the correct directory.

But this should not be the reason for the problem that you show here.

Oh, and I just noticed another problem. This happens to black holes at the center of clusters:

I suspect this is due to your Intel graphics card. SpaceEngine is not optimized for it.

However, there seems to be problems with the sound system. Maybe you should music and sound tentatively disable in the settings of SpaceEngine.

Don't forget to look here.

I have had some crashes with SpaceEngine lately. The log showed something like this:

Code
[MT] ERROR: seTexture::GetPixelsFromTexture(): pixels[] array already exists!
[MT] ERROR: seTexture::GetPixelsFromTexture(): pixels[] array already exists!
[MT] ERROR: seTexture::GetPixelsFromTexture(): pixels[] array already exists!
[MT] ERROR: seTexture::GetPixelsFromTexture(): pixels[] array already exists!

I was present at this binary planet.

RS 8415-1-1-6-45 4 / RS 8415-1-1-6-45 4.1

There I also made this screenshot of this glitch.

I usually keep the sound on my computer turned off. On the few occasions that I've listened to the SE music, I haven't heard anything weird or unusual. The music plays fine for me.

I just thought because of these messages at the end of the log file:

Code
[MT] Loading  sound "music/Vortex Mechanics - Plutonia (SE Edition).ogg"
[MT] ERROR: OpenAL ERROR: Invalid Operation
[MT] Loading  sound "music/A.e.r.o. - Kepler-186F.ogg"

and this apparently was the moment where SE crashed.

JackDole, might it be the periods in the name "A.e.r.o." confusing the game in some way?

I do not think so. I have tested it. No warnings or errors in the log file.

Upgraded detail noise textures on planets to specular bump textures. So they now interact with lighting and thus look "volumetric". Screenshots can't show this though. Second screenshot was taken from human growth height.

Nice! biggrin

All you need in life are space games and typhlosions.

Excellent! Bump+Specular maps will make a HUGE difference when it comes to photorealism. All we need now is millimeter-scale detail and 3D objects(small rocks and pebbles) and the ground will finally be very good-looking close up.

Also, how does this function with the vegetation textures on planets with life?

SpaceEngineer, does RC1 fix lag issues near black holes? i'm thinking about getting a new graphics card to help with it, because you said the new black holes have better ray tracing in patch 8. Should i get a better graphics card or is it have to do with something else?
