Please post here all of your reports about bugs or crashes in SpaceEngine. Before you post any bugs, please follow these steps:

  • Read the Troubleshooting for SpaceEngine 0.97. It is possible that your problem can be solved there.

  • Make sure that your bugs are not on the following list of known issues. You can use your browser's word finder to help search the list.

  • If the bug is not on the list then please post it in this thread. Attach to your message a screenshot (if possible) and a log file (it's called the "se.log" and is located in the system folder of SpaceEngine's directory). Only the log file will help me to understand your problem and find a solution.

The stars are in a close binary so it's probably just the eclipse bug affecting everything in the system

smjjames, please stop reporting every little thing that seems a bit weird to you as a bug, leave this thread for actual bugs.

I was just wondering if that was included in the bug already reported, and okay I'll quit reporting every little thing that seems a bit wierd.

Found something that is definetly a bug. While I was looking at the orbits to help determine the tail length, I noticed that the orbit of the selected planet doesn't always get highlighted. Which orbit is affected is different for every system, I even checked Sol and Earths and Plutos orbits are affected by this bug.

Moon orbits seem to be working fine as far as the highlighting goes.

smjjames, this is not a bug. Earth and Pluto do not orbit Sol, they orbit a barycenter which orbits Sol. If you select the Earth-Moon barycenter or the Pluto-Charon barycenter then you will see the red line. The same is true for any planet orbiting a barycenter with a companion.

Oh I see, somehow completely misunderstood it and mistook it for a bug (also didn't look closer at the ones which weren't highlighting).

Go me and my bug investigating skills, lol XD

Edit: OR I could have maybe saved myself a facepalm and asked first in the general questions thread.

While using the fish eye mode to project to a dome I've been running into this problem with the textures of planets:

Fish eye mode also will lose it's circular shape and be stretched to fit the screen, distorting the image, at random times. Exiting and reentering full screen mode fixes it temporarily.

    Any quick fix ideas?

Somehow, I can't change anything in my main.cfg

I downloaded S.E. 0.97 by alternate mirror (forgot my hotmail PW xD)
It says: When I'm just about to change something, I have to acces by administrator rights (alright, no prob) AFTER that I get a message: ''Not allowed" when I changed and it didn't work T.T

Anyway, does this have to do due to the fact that I downloaded by alternate mirror or is it just not allowed (which I doubt) ?

    Any help please ^^

I love to mess up with my main.cfg to improve rendering or performance... sleep

i don't think so... it's a strange way but you could try to move the file on your desktop, edit it, and move it again into se folder

n3xt, wherever you installed SE to probably caused the file(s) to be set to read-only. Simply change that in the properties.

Okay, well I''ve tried to do that and it kept restricting me from access...

Maybe I do need to download Mirror 1 or 2 instead ?

No problem though I still enjoy S.E. very much ! biggrin
Except in SE 0.96 I changed some interesting improvements for my hardware for SE in those files cry

It won't make any difference, a mirror is exactly what it sounds like, an identical copy of the download.

Ok, so, I don't think this bug's been reported yet:

I'm fairly frequently seeing the edges of the quads getting rendered into the objects texture:

It seems to manifest more obviously on non-uniform shaped objects (i.e. asteroids), but is certainly not limited to them.

Also, but I'm guessing it's no bug, I came across clouds sitting extremely high up in the atmosphere of a planet at about 165km (visually, they were pretty much in space). Probably related to the planet - warm super earth, 20,000km diameter, 1g - having an atmo pressure of 480+ atm O_o

I don't know how else to explain it other than periodic.. blacking out. It's off and on, can happen for about a second, then reappear, sometimes it won't reappear until I shift my camera to some unknown sweet spot and it magically comes back.. only to black out again when I'm unlucky to trigger.. whatever triggers this.

Though when it does black out, you can see galaxies that were behind it. But stars/planets/moons, pretty much all "physical" objects within the scene disappear.

It literally would go from this: http://i.imgur.com/3f7KyxJ.jpg
    to this: http://i.imgur.com/Ocdybl6.jpg

    Any help would be appreciated.

Using 0.97. New to this simulator/procedulator. :P Lovely when it doesn't do this.
