I just baked for Infinity: Battlescape on Kickstarter. Just 9 days left, they still needed $55,000. Lets help them! I following Infinity developing during many years and glad what they finally started Kickstarter. I hope to see the game soon, and try it by myself. I don't think Infinity will be competitor to SpaceEngine, because it's a different kind of games: trade and fight simulator, while SE is a planetarium and (in future) a space flight and space exploration simulator. Our game will complement each other to some extent.

Although I want to back them and been following them since early development (back in 2010 where I was really excited with their galaxy-wide MMORG infinity: The quest for Earth that vaporized eventually), I think they are behind competition*.

There is Elite: Dangerous already and the 2nd sesaon, Horizons, is coming in a few months where you will also be able to land on planets (airless first but hopefully wiith atmosphere next year). Why bother with infinity battlescape and their single solar system when I can have great gameplay and graphics in the entire galaxy with Elite: Dangerous?

Also there is nomanssky as well although it does not have realistic scale but still it has huuge gameplay area and very impressive graphics.

Star Citizen is another competitor as well, although I am not going to bother with it for many reasons,

firstly because it is ridiculously expensive,

2ndl it doesn't feature seamless transition from space to planets,

3rdl its scale is also not realistic,

4thly its flight and combat model is even less realistic compared to ED (which is also non-newtonian but it is the only way to make it playable in a realistic size representation of the universe in multiplayer environment running at 1x timespeed).

Better keep my money for Space Engine ;)

*PS: One could argue that they are not behind competition since infinity:battlescape, although only featuring one solar system, will have amazing detai and transition to planetary surface will be totally seamlessl Also atmospheric reentry effects and even air vortex effects during supersonic transition as you accelerate/deccelerate in atmosphere will be simulated. There is no current space sim with such detailed and graphics, even Elite: Dangerous: Horizons will have less planetary detail since it will feature airless planets, also transition from supercruise into orbital flight and near-surface (low altitude) flight will not strictly speaking be 100% seamless. So yes, it is a great project, I wish I had enough funds to support it as well :(. I voted for option 1.

Poll needs better options. I hope they succeed but I have not supported them. Everything they have done is quite impressive and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

Yes. Exactly this. smile

I've already pledged $55. I'll support any ambitious realism based space sim and Infinity: Battlescape looks gorgeous, as well as looking like a really fun large scale MMO combat game.
