One system? What game has one system? If I recall the I-Novae people said it was a galaxy or more.

n0b0dy already pointed this out, but it seems restricted to a single system, which is very disappointing imo

The I-Novae Engine is capable of allowing you to explore billions of solar systems as well as other galaxies however Infinity: Battlescape will be restricted to a single solar system. This will allow us to focus our resources on ensuring that it provides the best experience possible. We may offer additional solar systems after the game ships.

I will be inactive on this forum for the time being. Might come back eventually

Space Engine is about space mostly and what it does better than anything is rendering of stares, galaxies and such.

I have not seen any galaxy generation from I-Novae so I can't really say whether it is better looking or not.

Infinity, for the recent years, is oriented towards land generation and features and therefore has more graphic-oriented shaders, such as - better shadows, better water textures, tweaked terrain, smoother transition between detail levels, ring landscape generation (not realistic one)

Whether or not it is realistic it is still quite a bit more more detailed with way more variation over planetary surfaces. An engine can be scaled and adjusted, the most difficult part is already done with implementation.

Otherwise the game has amount of details far lower then that of SE

You are confusing quantity over quality. They have many varying features on single planets, SE may have trillions of worlds but you go to any desert world in SE and it will have much of the same layout as any other. I am not saying SE is bad, simply that it is still heavily limited when compared to other engines like it on the graphics and physics side of things.

SE does have some things better than Infinity, but I am talking about planetary surfaces.

And finally, the game has taken a completely different path compared to "space exploration" theme, as if it is trying to hop into another bandwagon than it was intended for in the first place. Which is very much disappointing.

This is true. The market is already filled with too many games like this.

Seamless interplanetary warfare across a procedurally generated, true to scale solar system

I am talking about their engine capabilities, not a limited prototype demo.

Proves my point.

That is exactly my point, Infinity really generates only one galaxy as far as I am aware (since the beginning of the project), while SE can generate billions even though it does not make too much change.

I really doubt that, we did not see many worlds by Infinity to judge about diversity of terrain generation, it is just that some of the features are looking better. When Space Engineer will be ready to include more people in his development team, he will be able to reach that level as well. And as for simulation game, quantity IS quality as long as people realize what they are seeing.

The difference between prototype demo and finished product is that a game has a limited set of features, while SE since the beginning has the goal of adding as many scientifically correct features to the virtual planetarium as possible. It is not easy decision to stop at some point and start working on narrowed down and simplified concept of the game, so I doubt that Engineer by himself would go over that problem that easily, after so many years spend.

I think, actually, many companies have been implementing specific financial strategies in the recent years, where they are promising to develop a huge and complex game and make a technological leap, but they limit their plans to smaller games to keep the company afloat and support the development. So, even though I-Novae is introducing this product, they are definitely going to expand into something bigger as long as the fanbase and donations can keep their development expenses. This surely will consume some resources not intended for a bigger project, but overall it is a good way for improvement. I think, we have to talk with Vladimir about that possibility.
