The textures of this thread are usable but the scripts needs to be updated to 0.97

Milkyway ( alternative model, artwork )
NGC4921
UGC1810
AM0644
NGC 7318a & NGC7318b ( Stephan's Quintet )
NGC7319sq ( Stephan's Quintet )
Random galaxy ( artwork )
Random galaxy 2 ( artwork )

These models are not perfect, they have a incorrect subsystems generation, dust sprites issues, incorrect information/location and low light ( exposure was set at ~1.5 for above screenshot )..
anyway, In future versions of SpaceEngine these textures will be excluded, so I won't keep them for me until then, they still look good and are enjoyable (a lot !)
I've put a random location for each galaxy, so you have to look for them with F3.
As this is my first addon ( and surely not my speciality smile ), don't expect too much from it, but flying around UGC 1810's arms is really nice cool

installation :
-copy the content of the folder "textures" and paste it into your data/texture/galaxies folder
-copy the content of the "new catalog.txt" and paste it into the "galaxies10k.cfg" ( data/catalogs/galaxies )
-copy the content of the "New models.txt" and paste it into the "models.cfg" ( data/models/galaxies )
- delete the cache folder

Textures and codes here

If someone wants to improve this ephemeral work, here are the originals pics and few more.
And for finish, bonus smile

Enjoy!

It is , Stephan's Quintet is a group of five galaxies, three of them are distorted from their gravitational interactions with one another, the three who are in this addon.

Are these only used once or are they also used in the procedurally generated galaxies?

Other than that they look great definitely gonna try them out.

Hi Solaris! Excellent addon! one question: Will these models substitute original default models from SE? Basically I am worried about our home galaxy if it will be affected becuase yours, although very beautiful looking, contains too much color and may not look very realistic wink (Actually I don't know if its the 1st in the raw of the 1st image or from the 2nd larger one unsure )

Other than that - excellent addon! smile

No, our home galaxy is unchanged and none of originals models of galaxies are replaced.

These are some mini tests of tweaking the textures of dust stripes in irregular galaxies ( who can be found in data/texture/common ). I changed the original texture by some clouds texture.
But they really aren't releasable at least for now, sorry for the false hope and the misunderstanding.

^That would be awesome biggrin Particularly if galaxies could randomly have one of the models included for that class, instead of all galaxies of a class looking the same.

I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

I could improve them before and try to correct the errors, also, I can make other galaxies.
But I could need help to set the correct locations.
apenpaap I agree, like for nebula, but I think SE have already plan this in a different way.

I had previously done work on the Milky Way art model as well, but I was never satisfied enough to release it; mostly it was the dust model that wasn't finished, the sys model worked very well. Would you like to have my files for that model too?
