DoctorDuke, thank you very much for your assistance smile

I will try to post my files by the end of this day with some comments in the code so you can understand what I have done, as well as an excel file that I'm using to convert the units from de PDF file to SE format.

Be advised, I'm still doing a lot by eyeball when fine tunning the settings for each planet, to make them look and feel good but I think it is worth the extra effort in the end smile

OK DoctorDuke, here are the files I am using with all the comments you need to get you started.

I'm tackling the main star with an estimated 16 Planets (ignoring helioformed stars ) and 33 moon plus some more minor objects

To get you started with an 'easy task', try to make the planets and moons of the Blue Sun (the furthest from the White Sun).
It 'only' has 9 planets and 24 moon smile

If you have any trouble understanding my comments or anything else in my Excel file, let me know wink

Note:
You may skip the universe.cfg if you add the reference to the teste.sc on your universe.cfg file
I also decided to add a barycenter close to the center of the central White Star so everyone can find it from the browser with the name Firefly smile
I STRONGLY recomend Notepad++ wink With C++ language selected you can collapse all the segments of code to make it easier to edit

Attachments: Fictional.sc(0Kb) · teste.sc(122Kb) · universe.cfg(5Kb) · Units_Converter.xlsx(16Kb)

Tuskin, would you like to join us and make one of the systems?

Georgia, Red Sun or Kalidasa are still available biggrin

Is star catalog (fictional.sc) you're made a mistake:

RA 0,73991 // Right ascention

Decimal numbers uses dot, not comma:

RA 0.73991 // Right ascention

Be careful!

BTW, with these coordinates Firefly star is not in the Taurus constellation:) And it is too close to Sun: with its luminosity it has 0.35 visual magnitude and spoils the figures of real constellations.

Edit: second mistake: two moons have identical first name:

Moon "S-2172(Londinium)01/Colchester"
Moon "S-2172(Londinium)01/Balkerne"

Did you forget to rename second moon to "02"?

By the way, use spaces before and after brackets - this is the English rule. These names should be "S-2172 (Londinium) 01/Colchester" or "S-2172 Londinium 01/Colchester". Why do you enclose "Londinium" in brackets? This is not a SpaceEngine style smile "34Tauri(2020)A" should also be renamed to "34 Tauri (2020) A" or so (is there a "B" star in the system?).

When you define ParentBody, you can describe only one name of the parent, it will work and make script more readable:

ParentBody "Londinium"
ParentBody "White Sun"
etc.

Edit2: I think this thread should be renamed to "Firefly system".

Thank you very much for the quick and thorough reply SpaceEngineer, you rock victory

The system is still not in it's final position, just a random area to work on smile

Quote (SpaceEngineer)
RA 0,73991 // Right ascention

My bad mellow

Quote (SpaceEngineer)
Moon "S-2172(Londinium)01/Colchester"
Moon "S-2172(Londinium)01/Balkerne"

Did you forget rename second moon to "02"?

Too much copy/paste will do that once in a while blink

I am using the names just like they come in TVIN.PDF. The blank spaces are not used and I decided to keep it as close to te source as possible.

Not sure why but when I started this project, every time I tried to use only one name for a parent body, it crashed on me, but I'll try to correct all the mistakes and then see if that solves the issue.

I will also change the name of the thread as you suggested smile

Ok here is the version 0.25 of the verse.

Only the central sun has all the bodies recreated as defined in TVIN.PDF but all the stars of the verse are already in the propper places, waiting for the respective planets and moons.

DoctorDuke, are you still working on the Blue Sun?

The invitation to join us is still open, there are still more than 200 planets and moons to build in the verse biggrin

The fictional.sc has the coordinates of the system, but I had to eye ball it since there is nothing to go for except a very small map of the general position. Unfortunately, at 40 LY from the sun, this kind of system will mess with real constelations, but as "someone" already mentioned before, sci-fi writers seem to hate science this days...

EDIT: Don't know why but every time I try to upload the Fictional.sc file it gets renamed to something strange :S

Maybe this is because a file with such a name already exists on the server. Deleting the old one from your old post may help. Or you can just pack the files into an archive.

The "Core" (White Sun) of the system is now 90% complete with all the planets, moons and protostars in place.
Minor tweeking is still required to give the planets and moons the look of the "official verse map":

I presume that the other 4 systems are still at 0% unless DoctorDuke has something to report on the Blue Sun area.

I Started this project on my vacations, but now the time available to complete it isn't much.
However, i'll keep trying to complete it on my free time smile

If anyone is willing to join the effort, the most recent script is available for download Here. I only ask to post a reply with the name of the system you will be working on to avoid working on something that someone else is already working on

So far I am Working on the Core and I supose DoctorDuke is working on the Blue Sun

With the same curse that looms over the NOCTIS V project sad

At this rate, it won't be ready before SE 0.97 I'm affraid.
My time is now limited as I have mentioned before and I am still to hear anything from anyone working on the other sub-systems.

I will try to finish the CORE but I have no hope of having it all ready for 0.96 at this time.

(Yes this was a desperate cry for HELP, because I'd hate to see such a beautifull project die on my hands for lack of time)

Ok, don't rush, in 0.96 you will have some useful tools - planet editor, export the system to script, etc. Many parameters related to procedural landscape are changed, etc...

Sounds like an SDK 0.5 :P

EDIT: Is there a solar system editor in your plans?
Some kind of point & click tool to add stars planets and moon, setup orbital elements and all the parameters that we now have to script.

Does that mean that our scripts may stop working?
