Proxima ring, ring made by JackDole just put it around Proxima Centauri and did a custom texture.

Add "catalogs/planets/ProximaRing.sc" to Universe.cfg

Custom texture will replace JackDole's collector texture

Very beautiful. But the collector masses seems a little high, I assume a value of 1 g/cm3. Actually, for such structures still much too high. Therefore of course I get also a completely different orbital period. I've changed the 'RefPlane' to "Equator". My script I call ProximaRingEq. The result looks like this:

The result looks like this:

Getting closer to one of these

I am wondering if there is a way to correct for the clipping disks where the rings meet up though.

One possibility is to make the rings of different sizes. In this image, the collectors are 10000 km apart. But that is quite ugly with lots of rings.

Yeah it is, I experimented with it a bit myself. The one solution I can think of doesn't seem possible or if it is then it is exceptionally difficult. The rings need to have matched orbital speeds so they never intersect, but this also requires a lot of complex orbits for each individual disk.

Another possibility would be a Dyson bubble, with stationary panels. This is only possible in the solar system, because each collector has his own 'StarBarycenter'! In other star systems that would not be accurate enough. Brightness settings: Ambient must be made very high, so that the panels are visible.

But for this I do not have a script. Not yet.

I'm afraid that will not go. Space Engine can not handle so many 'StarBarycenter', so close together. I've got a ring with 28 panels,

if there are more than 29, I get this error messages:

In the future, could we have these randomly generate?

I don't think so.

A Dyson bubble of our solar system.

A bubble with 12 rings and 30 mirrors per ring.

A bubble with 12 rings and 60 mirrors per ring, but the mirrors at the poles overlap. These are for my computer almost too many mirrors.

Looks very nice, will definitely give it a try.

That bubble with 720 objects is quite a system killer, my framerate is in the low 20s

There is one weird issue, quite a few of the disks show up like they are unlit.

I thought the glow when leaving a system with 1 or 2 rings was bad, but this is insane

Glow should be on the back if on any spot at all. The idea was that they are where waste heat is dumped, could also be thruster ports for orientation.

Flip the texture like this

I tried to transfer it to Proxima but it wouldn't scale properly

had a ton of issues so I reset the radius and then this happened

Here it is from inside

And from the outside it looks really weird

If you want to fly into a sphere, how about this:
