Hi everyone and first a huge thanks to SpaceEngineer for this excellent software !

For those who are interested, I created an excel sheet which can randomly generate a credible chemical composition for each planet type in SE (except oceania).

The considered primary chemicals for each planet type are :
* Selenia : Si, Al, Ca, Fe and Mg
* Ice giants: Water, Ammonia and Methane
* Gas Giants: Hydrogene and helium
* Icy: Water, CO2 and S
* Desert: Si, Fe, Al, Mg, Ca, S
* Terra Si, Al, Ca, Fe, Mg, H2O,
* Titan: H2O, Ammonia, Methane and Ethane

Since I am using this sheet to simulate a game, I introduced a "luck factor" ranging between 0 and 10% of the total chemical composition (0% having the highest probability to be obtained since 10 is really rare).
This factor can have two different actions if it is non-null:

-In the first case the luck percentage is redistributed to a primary chemical, creating planet with high resources in a specific chemical.
-In the second case, 3 additional "luck materials" are found on the planet (I currently don't know exactly which one to chose for each planet.

To give you an example of what can be done, here are 4 simulated planet compositions :

*Selenia : 41.5% Si, 20.3 Al, 12.8% Ca, 16.1% Fe, 7.3% Mg + "2% Luck" (here I got 0.6% Ti, 0.2% Th and 1.2% U)
*Ice Giant: 29.6% Water, 49.3% Ammonia, 21.2% Methane + "8% Luck" (here the percentage is redistributed in form of Methane: real % = 13.2 + 8% luck = 21.2%)
*Titan: 77% Water, 11.1% Ammonia, 5% Methane, 6% Ethane + "1% Luck" (here: 0.5% propane, 0.4% CO2, 0.1% Iron)
*Desert: 50.3% Si, 20% Fe, 10.2% Al, 10.1% Ca, 5.8% Mg, 3.7% S + "0% Luck"

I will upload the sheet in the next hours and I will be glad to give you more details about the maths behind (and of course you can use/modify/do wathever you want with it, it is totally open-source wink )

I will also be glad to have pieces of advice from Astronomer regarding credible compositions !

The downloading site has so many ads ...
It's a no-go for me, although I think your sheet might be intresting...

Now if one can find a way to "wire" it into SpaceEngine........

The links are down. Is this still a thing? Is there a new version that can do Oceanias, or just atmosphere compositions?

I will soon upload a new c++ based version which will be more robust and add new things !

If you have any requests/comments/knowledge you want to make to help making it more accurate, please feel free to share them !

Great! biggrin

Atmospheric compositions would be a must (as in, separated from the chemical composition of the planet's surface), along with the inclusion of Oceania planets. Would the inclusion of data on the state of every component (solid, liquid, gaseous) be possible too? It would have to take into account both the pressure and the temperature.

Please make sure the planet type names match the current version of the game's too. smile

Thanks!

It really needs the atmosphere composition option, hope Mikaa can make it. smile

Hey guys can anyone explain to me how to use this spreadsheet? I'm looking to use this for a sort of game in SE but I don't know much about excel. I noticed every time I close and reopen it the values are different, which is good, but I don't understand the luck thing or the examples Mikaa is giving in the OP. Is there something I should be doing once the document is open?

Btw the original links to the doc are dead but the one in RockoRocks's post works.

I'm probably not going to use this, but you may want to add H and He to ice giants to make it more realistic, and perhaps make a small percentage of the gas/ice giants to be rocky-type elements since all gas giants, in theory, have a hard rocky/icy core at the center.
