That Local Interstellar Cloud is the only local increasing of density of interstellar matter near the Sun. It's density (0.1 atoms/cm3) is only 2 times greater than density of Local Bubble (0.2 atoms/cm3) - the big cavity in the interstellar medium blowig by ancient supernova. So do you think you should add the Local Bubble in SE too? The densite of Local Interstellar Cloud is 1/5 of average density of intestellar matter in galactic disk in solar neighborhood, so it can be called "cloud" only because it is located inside even less dense Local Bubble. The normal density of nebulae that can be seen (in reality and in SE) is thousand times greater than density of these things. So I see no reason to add them in SE.

Too bad you think like that. For me, everything that could be incorporated to the program for add complexity and variety is very important, especially in a space simulator.

It would be absolutely impossible to add every piece of matter known to humanity into this program. Prioritization is necessary.

What would the point of an invisible nebula be anyway?

Simply include the "cloud" in the program like another cosmic object. Just to add more things to SE.

This "cloud" is just a normal part of the interstellar medium. There are probably millions of such insignificant structures in the Milky Way, all invisible. Meanwhile, there are many more things, which are far more significant and actually visible that still needed to be added. These things must take priority.

An invisible cloud though?

Obviously. That can't be posible. I'm talking of simple things like this.

"Simple things like this"? What does that even mean? Literally anything could be considered a "simple thing". There are billions of other structures out there, more significant than this one, that are not in SE. Why are you not advocating for adding those?

If you want to add it as a mod, okay, nobody's stopping you from doing so, but I don't need an invisible clouds bounding box (or circle maybe) trying to grab the selector when I'm near Sol, I get enough of that from the brighter, more distant catalog stars.

Yes, you're probably right, but this particular cloud is important enought to be added. I don't care the rest, it's impossible to be represented in the program.

Yes. Why not?

This particular cloud is no more important than any other. We are just more familiar with it.

Anything else would be just as possible to represent with this program as the LIC is.

And with that, the thread is now closed. The discussion has gone nowhere, and in any case, there is now way to add such an object to SE at present.
