Make SE compatible with planetarium projectors?

I don't know how hard it is to do this or if it costs money to pay for the obscure program probably commonly used to do it or if SE would need a whole new build.....

But just imagine how fast SE would become popular, planetariums would be encouraged to fund it, and so would everyone else...

it would be great,

I wonder if Vladimir already knows this, but if not, hopefully this discussion will gain popularity, you know, for the future of SE and stuff newrus

Actually there is already a thread for it.

Anyway, we also talked about that on the italian forum, and we pulled out many interesting points, some of which are related with commercialization, marketing, and eventual features that should be implemented.

The main features that SE needs right now are a rendering algorithm for projectors (that would be implemented eventually, as soon as the developer will find it on Internet or write it himself), constellation lines/labels and the possibility of making tours/timed scripts and putting images on the screen. Most of these are planned features so I guess SE will be compatible with Planetarium projectors one day.

The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

(still don't know why everyone is doing this...)

I can implement all needed for planetariums in... well... 6 months. Do you want to delay SE and game development for 6 months? No updates, work focused on planetariums only.

No, they wouldn't. I know about this market a bit... Well, it's just a market. no one needs a beta program which is in development and needs educated specialist to work with it. And of course they will not fund it. They needs a program which is working "from a box" and have simple interface understandable for lecturers, even better if it will resemble interface of the most popular programs. Just buy license and work. Anything else doesn't matter.
