I don't see what you are trying to show in this picture. Do you mean supporting of a domain structure of the Universe, or parallel universes, or what?

Consider- all space engine needs to (or can) cover is our own universe.

In a different universe, the laws of physics, causality, and everything else could differ greatly from our own. If the fundamental makeup of a different universe is completely different than ours, than nothing within it would be comprehensible to us. The term "within it" might not even make sense in a different universe.

A being within a foreign universe would be fully capable of understanding the basics of what goes on (or not- who knows) and might say the same thing about our universe as we would theirs... or might not, considering that logic in that universe could be completely different. What goes on there would be things which we would consider crazy- 2+2 could equal 5 or 3, or both- time might run sideways- or just things we aren't capable of describing, understanding or which don't conform to our logic. If the physics are different, matter and energy as we know it might be replaced with something else entirely! Concepts like intelligence and awareness might not even make sense or be possible.

You could hypothesize that their are an infinite number of universes or realities. But, like I said, a reality different than ours might have different laws and logic. Perhaps (if there are an infinite number) you could have universes very close to ours, but with different constants or particles, and others which are completely different in every possible (or impossible) way. You should also consider that, maybe, within the logic some another reality, the thought that other universes (like ours) could even exist would be impossible to even think of, literally. You could also imagine our entire universe might the daydream of some really bored intelligent being in another reality.

You could think of the universe as like a giant prison (not in a bad way)- we really can't leave it. If we could it would be really difficult, maybe impossible, or maybe as easy as pie for a hyperadvanced civilization! smile

My point is that once we start talking about other universes, we have ventured into the realms of the hypothetical. Its very interesting to think about, no doubt, but not something that would make sense to put into Space Engine.

We don't even know what our own universe looks like. It may be a closed hypersphere or have a Lobachevsky shape, or flat (Euclidian) and infinite. From Earth we can observe space within a 13.7 billion light-year radius (25 if we take into account the expanding of the Universe), but it is only a small part of all Universe.

In SpaceEngine, as long as we have a hyperdrive, the entire Universe should be represented. Infinite space is impossible to represent on a PC, but some closed curved space is possible. 4D hypersphere may be made similiar to a planetary surface, which is 6 squares, curved and connected to each other. In the universe's case we should use 8 curved cubes, connected with each other by their faces. It is impossible to imagine, but can be described by formulas or implemented in code. A more easier way is to use topology of a hypertorus - just connect the left side of a cube to the right side, top side to the bottom and front to the back. When the camera crosses the left side it will get teleported to the right side, this gives an impression of a seamless closed space with no boundaries. Another approach is to make a so-called domain structure - giant volumes filled with regular galaxies, 100-200 billion light-years across, separated with 100-1000 trillion light-years of empty "false" vacuum (according to the expanded universe model). The Engine can handle trillions of such domains, like it handle stars in the galaxies now. But the easiest way is just to limit the maximum velocity of movement and make the universe really big, so going to the "edge" will take years in real-time.

Sounds like a universal-scale game of asteroids.

Thinking about it in that context is mind-boggling to me!

Hi, guys!

It is very interesting when know about the universe!

Cheers,
