Hello, I am newbie here, so only few words for creator of this engine. You are really genius! My request, and I feel I am not alone, implementation of 3D anaglyph mode would be great for better gaming pleasure. Could it be in next release for example, please?

Thank you, and good luck in your work. wink

It would be epic to have 3D in SE smile , but it's being created by only one person and he is attempting to improve textures, optimize the rendering, etc, so I think he won't release it in the next versions because he has priority in other issues.

My desktop:
Pentium G3260 @ 3.30GHz
8.0 GB DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 5570 1GB

Human eyes can perceive distance only within a few kilometers. So 3D effect can be seen only on planets or asteroids.
Also, I have no anaglyph glasses. I even have no idea where I can purchase them, searching internet-shops gives nothing.

So if you have this glasses you do not need a 3D-capable monitor/TV?? I thought you need both unsure . Of course you also need a video card and drivers that support 3D and also the program must support 3D itself am I right /wrong?

I don't think 3D technology is really neccessary for SE at the moment. It hasn't matured enough. Plus the fact that it causes fatigue in the eyes/brain and it may not be very healthy for the eyes. And the problem with 3D technology is that it is not real-3D - it is rather pseudo-3D - it tricks your brain which is not very good IMHO. Real 3D requires special technique for projection where the viewer sits exactly in front of the screen and you don't need glasses: The screen becomes like a window and everything is rendered according to the position of the eyes of the person. But you can not move far away from the center of the screen otherwise you see objects distorted.

Anaglyph glasses have red and blue lenses that has split single image to individual eyes. The program can itself support color transformation, it doesn't require special driver capabilities. But this method gives a huge color distortion. And as neutronium76 mentioned, it is not 3D, but stereo. The market often distorts the meaning of technical words: for example, "LED" monitors are not actually LED, but TFT with LED backlight. So the newer true LED monitors should use another name, OLED or AMOLED. The same with "3D" monitors. Only a true 3D monitor is holographic. They are actually in laboratory at prototype stage, small 1x1 cm green display with 1 sec refresh rate and huge cluster to compute interferency image. But then they developed a 20" panel, I can say that the future comes true smile They will look like a window through which you can see a true 3D scene. But the word "3D" is already used for pseudo-3D stereo monitors. The market never looks at future.

90% of time i only wander close to planet surface and relaxing and discovering that beautiful detailed terrain. So 3D for me represents big progress in playing. Nice example is anaglyph mode of minecraft game, which is for me really amazing experience.

I fully understand that one man is not capable do everything, what spoiled player needs.:) So keep going in this amazing work and maybe if left some of your time..:) i will hope.

Just turn on 3D Vision Discoverer in NVIDIA drivers. No need to do anything special in-game.

SpaceEngine isn't compatible with 3D Vision Discover. At least not for me. Same goes for similar programs by small devs, like Celestia and Orbiter. Google Earth wasn't compatible either until recently, and I still can't get it to cooperate very often. But maybe it's just me or my machine.

I'll double check with the 3D Vision Kit in the next hour or so. If that works, 3D Vision Discoverer should also.

Odd, I set 1280x800@120 without S3D success. My guess is 3D Vision is DirectX only?

I think so. I remember reading somewhere that it is. Though there are still many D3D programs that won't utilize it.

How can the driver force program to generate two images for left and right eye? They should be taken from a different position of virtual camera (simulating two eyes). So it should be implemented in program, the driver doesn't know how to hack the program to manipulate its camera position.

Actually, external utilities and drivers can readily manipulate the OpenGL and DirectX rendering. Take for example 3dvia Print Screen. It can capture a whole DirectX 3D scene from a DirectX game running. The S3D depth is there in games not even programmed for S3D.
