Diffraction Spikes Fading

Just a quick question here, is there any way to disable diffraction spikes fading depending on camera proximity of an object. I'm asking mostly because Brown Dwarfs seem to get extremely dim when close up, compared to how much light they apear to be giving away, and since they're so dim in the first place, planets close to the Brown Dwarf seem to be lit unrealistically (even though they aren't). Looking up at the sky on an alien world, a mere half an AU from the surface of a red giant, I'd prefer to see a bright red sky full of light, that reflects the nature of the planets surface, than a depiction of the star, for realism purposes. Thanks in advance for any answers.

To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field sown with millet, only one grain will grow.
