WOW DoctorOfSpace that image it's trully elegant and majestic. Relativity would really transform our view of the universe if we played in that enviroment.
Awesome cry

Didn't take as many pictures as I wanted for this album but since 0.9.7.2 came out I decided to just cut my losses and make an album for it. Hope you enjoy! biggrin

Nice shots! They could probably go in the image dump thread instead, but they're nice either way. By the way, if you type $IMAGE1$, the first image you attached will appear in the post. You can replace the 1 with other numbers for the rest of the images.

I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

I was curious how crappy a system could still run SE at HD resolutions. So... I rose from the dust a PC built in 2006 with some upgrades and connected it to an HD TV.

Here are the specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+ (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 1024 Mb VRAM (latest WHQL drivers) @ 1920x1080
RAM: 4 Gb DDR2

The PC is basically an old ACER Aspire designed to run windows vista at the time. Later converted to windows 7 and a GPU and RAM upgrade. The results were quite surprising. After a while tweaking the config file for best performance versus quality the following screenshots were the result. Some of them took a few minutes to render but hey, for a PC this old its pretty good. I get about 40 fps roaming in open space, and 10 fps near a planet. The LOD was set between 1 and 2 for all screens.

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.2 Ghz
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0+
RAM: 16 Gb Kingston HyperX 2400
Mobo: Asrock Z170 Gaming K4
Storage: 1 x 250 Gb Samsung SSD. 2 x 500 Gb HDD

2 people (FastFourierTransform and Canapin) have posted screenshots of unusual structures that look like this

Is that a glitch, or a custom shader? Could someone tell me which planet(s) this is?

I will be inactive on this forum for the time being. Might come back eventually

It's from the base engine, no customization. By the way this kind of structures is quite common, I've seen this on a lot of planets.

A wider view of my first screenshot :

Another one (don't remember if it's the same planet) :

I don't think it's a glitch, just regular hot or cold lava flow

Well I ask to me the same question.
For me almost half the volcanoes I encounter are shaped like that (in fact if you see my fist picture there are 7 or so identical patterns), it seems strange to me. Do the other people don't have the same lava flows? wacko

By the way

Did some tweaks to the emis maps for some of the Trek ships. I think they came out really nice.

And some more ship warp stuff
