Solarflare, this is the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw Image #5...

"We pray for one last landing
On the globe that gave us birth;
Let us rest our eyes on the friendly skies
And the cool, green hills of Earth."

-Robert Heinlein.

Today, I have run into probably my coolest (and closest!) binary system system ever. It is a lifeless oceania as the main body with a terra with life as the secondary body.

A view from the orbit of the secondary planet

A view from the secondary planet. Majestic view. Imagine having A huge ocean planet+Very close supernova remnant+Rings+Secondary star. Simply majestic night sky.

Comparison in the distance. I am surprised that the moon has rings, I would have thought they would have long been destroyed by the gravity of the partner. The supernova remnant in the background is just simply awesome too.

Very strange Desert planet unlike any I've seen before, location : Fomalhaut A6
Could be a glitch, but believe it or not, the green spots are NOT part of the planets surface, it's part of it's atmosphere since it disappears when you turn off Atmospheres.

Planet without clouds

Same planet without clouds and atmosphere
So If I get this right, certain parts of this planets have round-shaped areas with thick fog

Cool shot from the surface

Again, the location is Fomalhaut A6 and it might not work for all of you.

Nice find RockoRocks, though that's not a bug. It's kind of like almost the entire planet stretches out from the thickest part of the atmosphere and the lowlands are more or less at sea level, so the atmosphere is much thicker there. It makes a very cool effect. cool

It's been a while since I posted here my latest desktop image. Now it's this one, not that it has been the same ever since I last posted:

Yes, the shape of it has changed. My computer is breaking down on me; now it was the monitor that went kaputt and I had to buy myself a new one. I was planning to contribute to SE around the New Year, now I can't. sad

Going into the dark "cloud" regions of galaxies really gives up results:

Today a friend of mine who plays Halo and knows about SE asked me if I could create a Halo spacecraft... I could only find this sketchup model, and these often don't work, but this one actually worked well and looks really cool:
