I normally don't post that frequently in the image dump but this last one of my discoveries in the far side of our galaxy is simply breathtaking:

Are there any medical studies about what seems to me to be a SE-induced syndrome, which I tentatively would call the Desktop Background Instability Syndrome, or DBIS, in short?

I seem to have contracted the desease. My desktop background has lately been seldom the same for two straight days. Here's the latest.

I'd surely love to know if it's at all curable.

Some of you may know the anime series "Space Battleship Yamato" (1974) or better known as "Star Blazers" in the USA. Because I'm a fan of the series and its following installments I have searched for a model to convert and found one in Sketch-Up-Library. I converted it and used it in Space Engine, but the model is very detailed and runs with only 5-6 fps on my computer setup (see signature). The credits for the model goes to a japanese person under the pseudonym "hana sun". Thanks for the great model to him! Unfortunately I don't know, if I could release the model because of copyrights and intellectual property. I will search for that in the japanese blog or on Google Sketchup, if there is any permission.

I think some people in the forums are interested in this, because the know it from childhood or are anime fans.

Your setup is pretty good. When first loading detailed models like that, it runs slowly when it's first converted from the obj, but when you restart the program and it loads the sm then it's usually quite fast, even with detailed models.

That is a very nice-looking model smile

Because he has performance problems with 0.97.

Yes, 0.97 still bogs down heavily. loader mode 1 makes it usable somewhat for a short time but still a pain. 0.96 is a complete breeze, even on max detail.

Only thing I haven't tried is a new install of windows. Since everything else is running fast as can be I just don't know if it would help.

I think you should try to hold out for the next release before trying anything that drastic.

Great shots LiveLife42! Were these from 0.96?

Nice to see you back LiveLife42 and these first 3 shots are great!
Chromatic9 your GPU is far better than mine - I want to buy one like yours but GTX-58x series are no longer being sold in my country. But your problems with 0.97 are strange and I am afraid of buying one through e-bay 2nd hand. I presume you have tried updating drivers. As for myself, 097 crashes became history after deciding to sacrifice performance and stick with interleaved loading mode smile

I'd surely love to know if it's at all curable.

It is, but the only treatment is a total frontal lobotomy. So you choose between no personality or DBIS.
