Wow, that is very unlikely indeed, especially considering the SE asteroid belt is way, way thinner than the real life one.

I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

By moving in a random direction, I encountered Pallas. I wonder what is the probability of this.

Pretty high. Mars is close to the asteroid belt and Pallas is a bright asteroid. I often see bright asteroids like Ceres, Pallas, and Vesta when departing from Mars.

No, not really. The real asteroid belt isn't nearly as thick as everyone seems to think it is, and SE has most of the bright asteroids in its catalog; the dimmer ones (some of which are also in SE) would be too dim to see unless you flew very near them.

I often see asteroids as points while moving throuigh the solar system. But here, I saw not only the flare, but the asteroid itself. I was very near to pass through it.

I know the real asteroid belt is still really thin, but way thicker than it is in SE. There are billions of small asteroids that aren't in SE.

Oh. Well that is very rare.

And they never will be, for obvious reasons. But this is entirely irrelevant to Voekoevaka's story. Having more small asteroids would not dramatically increase your chances of seeing one.

I used a city light map as a diff map, used some ambient light, then took a picture with it and combined it with a normal screenshot and did some other edits.

No, http://spaceengine.org/forum/19-408-19656-16-1377681949 I was also working on getting this map modified for SE, but he beat me to it smile You still have to CubeMap it yourself to use it though, but I've already done this so I might upload it myself.
