Imo, there should be something really done.

Maybe a parameter in the next update that you can search for particular compositions? I honestly found it like a slap in the face. Sometimes I imagine it like humanity needs to find another planet on a hyperdrive spaceship, only to find out ll the candidates had atmospheres like "can't breathe this!"

*Everyone is about to land on the first earthlike planet. 60 years passed and three generations of humans born on the ship wait to settle land*

Captain: Everyone, we are about to land on this world. i'm glad we made it.

Scientific assistant: Cap, everyone is going to die of hyperoxia if we land. Not to mention the SO2 levels

*everyone goes upset*

Captain: Next stop; next best candidate is another 30 years away.

It's still very much a work in progress -- this is only the first iteration of atmosphere compositions.

A search function for specific atmosphere compositions would certainly be nice. smile

Almost there!Look at this!Seed: RS 8474-3177-5-30441-726 7

The atmosphere is 77 percent nitrogen,16 percent oxygen and 4.5 percent CO2.Plus the pressure is exactly 1 atmophere. The only problem is that the temperature is 90 degrees Celsius. But at least the atmosphere is almost perfect biggrin .

Here's my best shot at a breathable atmosphere. The only concerning thing on this planet are the CO2 and SO2 levels, and the lack of nitrogen, but the oxygen is perfect to sustain life. It has no terrestrial life either, but hey, seafood anyone?

If hypothetically we find a planet with too much CO2, couldn't we just introduce some photosynthesizing bacteria to convert it, like what happened to earth 3 billion years ago?

Here's my submission, too bad it has 3g though

I fear too much CO2. Bacteria would take an awfully long time, and we would still need to set up a bio-dome to survive., which would still be as helpful as a settlement on mars.

How about this?

EDIT: Nevermind I completely forgot about the oxygen...

Oh wow. The oxygen is a less than factor of 10 too low, SO2 is less than a factor of 10 too high, and CO2 is less than a factor of 2 too high. Especially when you consider how hard it is to find SO2 values that low, that's really close.

Too much CO2. Probably not the best place to settle

Yeah, it would kill you very quickly I'm afraid. The ESI value is pretty high though, and that's a nice length of day.

Nearly a perfect match to Earth, and considering the name of the Star, I think it was on purpose.
HIP 11111 4 - Mini-Earth

I've seen much higher ESI scores, but this is a smaller sized planet to begin with.
Atmosphere is very comfortable and breathable, plus the sunlight will give you the perfect tan.

I'm afraid it isn't. Way too much CO2 and SO2. But it sure looks pretty. smile
