Decided to test out some recording and make a short movie and I think it turned out pretty cool, there are some glitches in the video but bear with and try to enjoy it. Watch in 1080p and fullscreen! cool

Very nice! I like the music. Its from the sci-fi movie "sunshine". It is a bit depressive but also uplifting at the same time. I have watched this movie 4-5 times because of the soundtrack... The style reminds me of Moby's music - which makes me ask: Who wrote the score?? Moby mabe?

Talisman, why are you using such a big FOV? It looks weird. Also you made the video with incorrect aspect ratio (or my youtube plugin is glitched?). Another thing: You've probably recorded it via external software, which makes loading lags noticeable. I recommend making the video with internal semi-offline rendering mode. It makes the video smoother and hides loading process. To activate it, switch loading mode to "Immediate" and timing mode to "Frame time". Note that in this mode it is better to use Spacecraft of Aircraft control mode, because the usual controls make the video laggy. The new version 0.95 automatically activates all needed modes. Maybe in my next release I make saving to uncompressed AVI instead of a set of pictures.

I'm using the default FOV(perspective), I haven't changed it, it might be the aspect ratio making it look like that(or passing extremely close to the gas giant), although I think it gives a very cool "cockpit" look while flying fast over the mountains and observing the Jovian moon, I couldn't use the picture capture (F9) mode of the current space engine because I don't have software that converts the pictures to a video and it's just way to laggy. I used Fraps compressed into Windows Movie maker 1080p and it was very smooth while making.

I'll try those settings for another recording of something else though, thanks for the tips.

I use Bink Video for this.

Setting it to "internal semi-offline rendering mode" made it extremely laggy for me. I think the other way works better, In my main video I didn't scout out the terrain I would be flying over and it made it kind of choppy and the terrain becoming unfocused thing usually doesn't happen.

Another software to make videos from single pictures is: Sony Vegas Pro.

Or....You can stitch the SE pictures together with the free "Windows Live Movie Maker." and then upload your videos in widescreen 1080 HD

Just downloaded a setting for WMM to fix the aspect ratio problem for full 1080p HD, I might make another video with the fixed aspect ratio soon.

Are there any other settings I can change for recording to stop the choppy generation while flying by?

That sounds awesome, and I'm looking forwad to it.

Talisman - I enjoyed your video (first one more than the second - good choice of music) but I have a few criticisms;

- I too was a bit put off with the aspect ratio error

- I agree with SpaceEngineer in that you really need to use Spacecraf/Aircraft mode when recording videos.

- You could have slowed down the entire thing when recording. This might have prevented errors like landscape suddenly disappearing - then speed it up during editing. This will give you a higher framrate, and lessen the lag.

- One final thing: Please don't cut the ending like that! tongue

Keep making videos, you'll find that you skills quickly improve with the amount of effort you put in to it!

Indeed, this has been fixed for future videos.

- I agree with SpaceEngineer in that you really need to use Spacecraf/Aircraft mode when recording videos.

I only used spacecraft mode in both videos.

Ah, good tip, I'm most likely going to just wait for the next version.

- One final thing: Please don't cut the ending like that!

My mistake.

Thanks for the tips.
