I have been using Sony Vegas 10 and never had a problem. In fact I have used it to make all of the Space Engine videos.

Have you tried to update?.

I have been using it for a while as well, and untill about a year ago, there was mostly 'just' issues with video in recorded in the fraps codec, and a downright refusal to accept videos from my Samsung Galaxy S2, unless they're reencoded.

It may be the Nvidia drivers, or it may be my GTX460, that Vegas doesn't like. Not sure.
I tried updating, that didn't help so I reverted back to an earlier version again (this goes for both Pro 10 & 11). At some point I just had enough and decided never to use vegas again.

As far as I can read on various forums, I'm not the only one who's had issues with it. If it works for you, that's great.
I've been using Vegas Pro 11 build 521 & Pro 10 build 469.

Here are some of the endless threads about vegas pro 10/11 issues:

PRO 11:

PRO 10:

Bottom line - I won't even TOUCH Vegas Pro untill they cleaned up their act..
Maybe try Pro 12 when it comes out in a few years...

Well, it's good to see you back Hardts. I hope you can find some time to make more videos, the first one was awesome, and as SpaceEngine has improved a lot since then, I'm sure the next ones will be even better. Good luck and amaze us again soon biggrin

Finally, I am finished with episode two of the series, watch it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBdAdt_OgY8

I would like to thank all of you here on the SpaceEngine forum, for watching the first one, commenting, and liking - it means a lot smile

You may think I took a LONG time to make this 12,5 min film - and you'd be right wink
It took a long time to make this, but I admit that much of it was spent NOT working on it.
I guess I'm not very good with big projects.
The important thing is that it's done..

I am aware of at least one factual misenterpretation in this film - this being the facts surrounding the desert planet
closest to Cephei. With the update from 0.95 - 0.96, certain things were changed again.
According to SpaceEngine, this planet does indeed NOT have a thin atmosphere at all.

I would like to point out, that I may have made a mess of it;
The desert I talk about, is one orbiting the Cold Ice Giant, furthest from Cephei.
The second time you see it though (when I say 'back on the desert') - you see the planet closest to Cephei instead (which is a very Hot Desert).

I think this mixup happened because so much time elapsed between working on the project, so I confused myself..
Sorry!

Stunning work, as before! I especially liked some of the "steadycam" shots - they really looked *real*.

If I was to offer any constructive criticism, it's that I think you overused the camera effects at your disposal. Stuff like the colour bleeds and overlaying multiple images. It got a little distracting at times.

Don't get me wrong, they were very well executed, but I felt you were a little trigger happy with them, using them without any contribution to the narrative ("Why is the star turning green for no reason, Daddy?") - basically, less is more.

It's still brilliant, though - Discovery Channel should be knocking on your door.

Hey, I'm back too (after some months). Your work always looks amazing, Hardts! I'm even thinking about using SpaceEngine to do some work in my graduation. smile I just need a better computer.

But anyway, I have a small critic. In this episode it looks like you're jumping from one subject to other without much connection between them. You colud be more focused in something for some more time, it would feel more like a professional work. You did this in the first one and it was great biggrin

"Why is the star turning green for no reason, Daddy?" I lol'ed tongue ...
Thanks both of you, for the critique. I'd like to go more indepth with the thing.

I look forwad to making another episode. This time though, I'm not going to feel bad about not working on it for ten months. I'm going to do it all at onc..Who am I kidding, I have no idea how things will turn out, but I hope to make another one before too long.
Cheers smile

Hi Hardts, very professional filming! Maybe you will be interested in making a video guide for SE?

One more critics: you say that star is called [M U Cephei], but here "mu" is a greek letter μ. I don't know how it should hear in English, may be your spelling is right...

It is typically pronounced like "moo", the sound a cow makes, and occasionally like "mew" like the Pokémon, though I think that is as erroneous as pronouncing Uranus as "yer-anus". Definitely not as two letters of course, since it is itself a single letter.

I'm watching the video now Hardts, and I'm already impressed, you do some great work!

Thank you very much!
Well, that sounds interresting, but I won't take the job away from Talisman if he's working on it.

Ah, I mispronounced it.. Damnit! tongue ...

I think my attention to detail sometimes suffers greatly because of my lack of patience.
I would NOT make a good detective..

Thanks man, I really do appreciate you kind words.
I'll note that it's called Moo, and try to ignore my anoyance with my mispronunciation in the video dry ..

Small errors in pronunciation are unavoidable, don't sweat it. I thought your video and narration were outstanding, I very much look forward to any future work you might do.

I get the same way when working on projects. I start as a perfectionist, but as time goes on my patience wears out and I eventually just get fed up, say good enough and call it done happy
